The Easiest Way to Rank Higher in Local Searches

If you want to grow your business online, you NEED to get visibility on Google. Believe it or not, there is one thing you can do today to easily boost your ranking in local search results. And it’s completely FREE. Want to know what it is?

Optimize your Google My Business Profile!

When you optimize your GMB profile, this sends signals to Google to rank you higher in local search results. The more visibility you have on Google, the more calls you’ll get, and the more money you will make by booking more jobs. There’s no reason not to take advantage of what I’m sharing with you today! I’m going to show you exactly what you need to do on your Google My Business listing to rank higher in your local area’s search results — getting you more engagement, more calls, and more jobs as a result! Let’s get started.

1 - Create a Google My Business profile

If you haven’t already, go to google.com/business/ and create an account for your business. When you create a listing, you’ll need to verify it. Google will send a letter with a verification code to your home or business address. Once you get that letter in the mail, enter the code on your GMB profile to verify it. Congrats! Now you’re cleared as a real business by Google!

2 - Fill out EVERY section

Once you setup your profile, it’s important to fill out every section, including:

  • Posts

  • Info

  • Reviews

  • Photos

  • Products

  • Services

  • Website

The more complete your profile is, the higher Google will rank it. Potential customers will also have more information to engage with you and will be more likely to take action and call your business!

3 - Choose your category

This is a MUST for optimizing your Google My Business profile. Most people search for a product or service…not a specific business name or company. So, by declaring a category, you are including yourself in those searches.

For example, if you are a concrete company, choose “concrete contractor” as your main category. Whenever someone searches “concrete company near me” or “concrete contractors in [your city]”, you will show up in those search results!

4 - Add photos

Adding photos of your team, your place of business, and the work you do, are all important to include on your Google My Business listing. Not only does Google include photos in local search results, but images help build trust and customers are more likely to visit your website, get directions, or call for more information from a profile that has photos.

5 - Get reviews

Now it’s time to show people proof of the awesome work you do! Share your page with past customers and ask them to leave you a review. Make sure to send it to new customers too! The more positive reviews you get, the more trust you’ll build with people online searching for your services. When you search for a local restaurant or service, you look for those 5 star businesses. So, be one of those yourself. Google will reward you…and the new business you get from those positive remarks will too!

Wrapping Up

Today, we only talked about ranking your Google My Business profile. While this doesn’t necessarily move your website up in rank underneath those map listings, your Google My Business map listing gets a TON of exposure. By optimizing your Google My Business profile, Google will rank you higher and get you seen by more and more local searches. This can help your business in a HUGE way. And the best part? It’s FREE and easy to do yourself!
